Goal

Sustainable management of land and land based natural resources for the eradication of poverty and improvement of the livelihoods of the people of East Africa.

Vision:

A region in which there are policies, laws and institutions for the management of land and land based natural resources which are democratic, responsive to the needs of the region, and promote equitable access to and use of land and natural resources for the development of the region and improvement of the people¡¯s livelihoods.

Mission

To facilitate and promote the exchange of information, ideas, experiences and expertise between East African countries and between them and other countries in Africa and elsewhere in the world with a view to ensuring sustainable management of land and land based natural resources for the eradication of poverty and improvement of the livelihoods of the people of East Africa.

Landnet East Africa was formed to bring together persons and institutions working around land policy and land tenure in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.  Specifically the Network was to address the following objectives:

  • To facilitate the sharing of information, experiences and expertise between member countries, other sub-regional Landnet and other parts of the world.
  • To facilitate capacity building in areas of land policy, management, and development through joint projects between countries, sub regions and other parts of the world.
  • To facilitated the development of common strategies to address common policy development challenges.
  • To facilitate human and other resources development and mobilisation a round land policy development and advocacy for sustainable land use.
  • To conduct and facilitate research and analysis on common issues related to land policy development, management and administration across the sub region.
