Land Use and Management

Background

The Land Use department is a new portfolio under the Knowledge Management Department that comes in to address recommendations from ULA’s interventions through community legal empowerment and policy influence at national level that will ultimately ensure tenure security.

The Department is tasked with developing strategic policy recommendations, piloting innovations, enhancing people’s participation and facilitating adjudication of right. It focuses on identifying emerging land, resource and environmental trends and issues, and makes an analysis of associated impacts, challenges and opportunities.

To achieve this, emphasis is placed on developing and maintaining effective working relations with government, development partners and the private sector to advocate for sustainable resource and environment management at all levels, including recommending alternative policy or operational options to government.
