Copacso activities

1.      The most urgent activity for COPACSO during 2011 is to efficiently support Pastoralists and Agro-Pastoralist Communities in Uganda to engage with and Influence the development of the Uganda Rangeland Management and Uganda Pastoralism Policy. COPACSO and its members will participate in grassroots consultation and influencing the  development of the policies in order to ensure that issues of pastoralists and agro pastoralist are well reflected in the two policies

2.      COPACSO will continue to support a vibrant and informed policy process on pastoralist and agro-pastoralist issues in which representatives from pastoralist and agro-pastoralist areas play a central role. Focus policies actions during 2011 are the domestication of the African Union Framework on pastoralism, Land Rights, Women Rights, Security and Basic service delivery in pastoralist and agro pastoralist areas. COPACSO will also organise the 5th Edition of Uganda pastoralist Week which is slated to take place end of October 2011 to enable pastoralists and agro pastoralists effectively showcase their national contribution to socio-economic development in Uganda.

3.    In 2011 COPACSO will be transitioning from a loose Coalition into Strong and sustainable coalition which is able to champion pastoralist and agro-pastoralist concerns. Key specific activities to be untaken include recruitment of a dedicated staff to COPACSO, establishing a running office to support the coordination of activities of members.
